So, as many of you already know. I live in Madison, Wisconsin, and go to the University of Wisconsin (Go badgers!) And Madison is famous for its beautiful 6 block pedestrian walk way known as State Street. I walk those six blocks at least once a week on my way to work. And as I walk, I pass two stores devoted to selling popcorn and a lone red popcorn cart. After passing the first two stores, I couldn’t resist any longer and stopped at that little red cart. The smell of popcorn has to be one of the smells every human knows and craves instantly upon smelling it.
Now, popcorn is a peculiar thing. Have you ever thought about it? I mean a kernel explodes and creates soft yet crunchy snack that has been around forever. How long you may ask? Well Wikipedia says “evidence of popcorn from 3600 BCE was found in New Mexico and even earlier evidence dating to perhaps as early as 4700 BCE was found in Peru.”
Though I bought the plain butterless lightly salted popcorn from this cart, the other two shops pride themselves in trying new flavors (raspberry and vanilla, banana and lime..yep they have it!) Here are links to their webpages!
Now you just try and tell me that you aren’t craving popcorn. Well here is a link to a blog that has the secrets to making the best homemade popcorn there is.
